update (17jun05): thanks to all visitors for the suprising reception of this photo. to answer a few questions:

- this is one photo not two, but it has been processed twice in phase one to produce two different exposures and then masked in photoshop. one for the sky and one for the land. I'll post a tutorial on this soon.

- we were invited to a family dinner and this is taken from the window of their apartment. it's shot through the glass since the window could not be opened. that's why the trees on the right side look a little lighter.

- mikey has beat me to it and posted a succesful analysis of where I was standing for this photo! (thanks andy)

- the surreal feel and the sudden darkness of the edge of horizon are intentional.(maybe inspired by war of the worlds trailer!)
